Lumber Yard Staff

This role is to provide outstanding customer service while assisting contractor and/or retail customers with product selection of Building Materials, restacking lumber, sweeping, putting away inventory and general customer service.

This position requires the applicant to:

  • Have a knowledge of construction materials
  • keep a neat and tidy work environment
  • be physically fit, agile and able to lift up to 100 lbs
  • Responsibilities and Duties

    • Assist customers with loading of construction materials
    • sweep, clean and organize your work space
    • drive a forklift
    • restock and restack materials
    • take inventory
    • other duties as required by management

Customer Service Staff

Job Overview:

The Customer Service Associate is responsible for working with customers, answering telephone inquiries concerning product, general housekeeping, maintaining products and merchandising displays in their departments. 

Required Accountabilities:

  • Write up customer orders using POS system in compliance with store policies and procedures
  • Assist customers with product selection and invoicing
  • Represent the company in a professional manner and ensure that the contractor and retail customer is treated with the utmost respect and courtesy
  • Keep merchandise displays fresh and attractive in appearance
  • Become familiar with all the products sold in your department
  • Ensure that products on sale or promotion are properly identified and tagged before the sale and removed afterwards
  • Be observant of  customers who appear to be acting in a manner suspicious in relation to store theft and report such activity to your supervisor
  • Be professional, friendly, courteous and helpful  to all customers and staff
  • Be prepared to work in other departments as required
  • Assume  other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Store Manager

Job Requirements:

  • Strong interpersonal and computer skills, Sales Skills
  • Strong desire to build professional relationships with members of the industry including customers and vendors where required
  • A background in the construction industry, retail and/or sales is an asset
  • Flexibility in work schedule to meet the demands of the store and management

Cashiers

Job Overview:

The Cashier is responsible for accurate entry of all cash, credit cards and charge account transactions on the POS terminal that he/she is assigned to.

Required Accountabilities:

  • Verifying the cash float at the beginning of the cashiers shift
  • Provide receipt to customers for all transactions entered into the POS system
  • Maintain and ensure all price reference books are readily available at the cash desk
  • Keep aware of all sales events and special pricing to ensure accurate transactions
  • Keep the cash counter and area neat and tidy
  • Answer all telephone calls and direct inquiries to appropriate departments
  • Be observant of  customers who appear to be acting in a manner suspicious in relation to store theft and report to your supervisor
  • Be friendly, courteous and helpful  to all customers and staff
  • Assume  other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Store Manager

  • Strong communication and time management skills
